Arrow Is It Worth Calling Sky? Interleaving and Fastpath Questions.

I've had Sky BB for a while now and I mostly use it for gaming. These are my stats:

Im quite happy with my speeds but as I said I do a lot of gaming on the Xbox. I've already rung Sky before and asked for my Max Delay to be reduced to 8. I'm just wondering if calling Sky again and asking them to turn interleaving off and putting me on fast path will reduce my ping further?

      Thanks In Advance,
      Diesel.

Sky don't turn interleaving off. You're on the 10240/800 gamer profile as it stands, so uncapping from this (whilst keeping delays at 8ms) would be all that can be done.

I would not set much store in the figures quoted by these sites, the fact that speedtest.net is reporting a faster download than your sync shows that something is not right.. Open a Command Prompt and do an ping bbc.co.uk.

      Do a speedtest here http://www.skyuser.co.uk/speedtester/

So could I call Sky and ask for my download and upload speeds to be increased whilst keeping max delay at 8ms, and not have a increased ping?

Going by your ping to BBC, it does not look like you are on a gamer profile. As User05 says in post 3, ask them to uncap you and set your delay at 8.

I have already called them up to ask for my max delay to be set at 8ms. Do you think they've changed it back?

It is possible it was never done properly in the first place.

I'm on the phone to them now, and I asked for my ping to be reduced and my speeds to be uncapped. They said my download speed can be increased to 12megs. They said that they reduced my ping, I got a 1ms less ping to bbc.co.uk for the cost of 190kbps upload. They said if they changed to the medium gaming package, my download speed would drop to 2mbps. When I asked for my ping to be changed back and my upload speed to be changed to what it was before I called, they did so at the cost of ping to bbc.co.uk being 13ms higher.

Re: Is it worth calling up Sky?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a gaming package ? And how do you find out your what your max delay is ? How do these packages differ to an ordinary connection ?
Sorry for the questions, just wondering what it all means.

      Pete.
