Disconnecting and not reaching near enough the right speed.

      Hey everyone,
Practically my router keeps disconnecting. It happens every now and then its not a major problem. Also, my download speed is VERY slow, webpages load very fast but on speedtests it says I'm only getting around 0.40-.0.50meg speeds. I was told I'd receive around 20meg speeds.

There is nothing wrong with the phone line, filters, how my router is set up. I have been through all the tests explained by sky phone operators and nothing makes it better. Sometimes when I go to the router webpage it says broadband is not being detected but my internet still works.

I find the sky customer service very unhelpful and they said they'd charge for an engineer to come out. I find it disgusting that I'm not receiving even 1meg of speed.

      Hi,

Need to see your stats. First post them from where your router is right now and then post them from your test socket.

That's a bit strange. Without the Master socket you are connecting with MER using G.DMT and with it you are connecting, probably with PPPoA ,on ADSL2+. It does show that your internal wiring is holding back your speed. Although you are never going to get a high speed you should fit and use a filtered faceplate to get the best your line can give.

After you have installed the filtered faceplate ring Sky and ask them to move you to G.DMT permanently.

@ Isitme: With regards to PPPoA it was probably at the stage where is connects as PPPoA first and then switches to MER once it gets a sync. In the screenshot the router has not synced yet. But still baffled by the switch between G.DMT and ADSL2+.

Yes you will use the same IDC terminals. The filtered faceplate will have terminals 2,3,4,5,A and B. You will only be using '2' and '5' and punching in the wires in the same order as you remove them.

I didn't notice this before. If you were told that and not Up To 20Mb, there could be a serious fault on your line. How far are you from the exchange? Put your phone number and code in the boxes and report the result.
