Broadband grinds to a halt in the early evening.

Been with sky for just over a month.

      Stats are:

      Upstream 1107591
      Downstream 14970553
      SNR Margin(Upstream) 8.0 dB
      SNR Margin(Downstream) 7.05 dB
      Line Attenuation(Upstream) 17.0 dB
      Line Attenuation(Downstream) 40.0 dB

What I am finding now is that my stats will remain the same as above BUT the actual speeds I get are painfully slow during certain times.

The last few days I have been lucky to get 1 meg download around 5pm. It only got back to speed around 7:30 onwards!
Websites take ages to show and I was waiting a fair few minutes even for the bbc website to appear. In fact broadband becomes unusable.

Does anyone know of any good reasons why this would happen?
Surely Sky can handle a nice steady fast speed even during the "rush" hour of teatime!

Is it normal for sky to throttle the line during the teatime hours?

I would have thought sky unlimited would have been able to handle the users at the LLU exchange and offer a fair speed for everyone during peak hours.

I am going to be checking my speed over the next couple of hours to see if there is still a problem.

Is there anything I can do? Router is plugged into master socket.

      Slowing down already.

This morning and early afternoon I was get 1500 kB/sec.

Now I am only getting around 250-300 kB/sec when downloading.

Stop all downloads and run a ping test and trace route to bbc.co.uk and copy paste everything.

      Everything looks normal.

      What are you downloading over?

      Http?
      ftp?

Yes it does look fine but the web is very slow at the moment.

When I noticed that the web was slowing down and pages were taking ages to load, I thought I would spend today testing out the following downloads:

      thinkbroadband :: Download Test Files

This morning it was superfast, now these files are taking 6-10 times as long.

      Sorry had to pop out.

Using ethernet to connect up my pc.

Trying that link but it is crawling to a halt....

      Also been using:

      http://tenmeg.myby.co.uk/speedtest2.htm

Usually comes back with around 13-14 meg.

      Coming back with 4.5 now!
