It is taking up to 50 seconds to access my local paper if I am lucky to get the page up!

I wonder if your exchange is being effected by the backhaul problem that a few were earlier this year. It took Sky a few weeks to sort the problem out.

Could I suggest you start a thread, something along the lines of "Anyone experiencing slow downs on <your exchange name>". This may show whether it is a problem on your exchange.

I would suggest you start in Safe Mode with Networking and try a speed test to make sure the problem is not on your PC, but I expect you have tried that.

Web access is very fast now, with download speeds of 1.5MB/Sec.

Everything is back to normal, speedy web access, downloads are fine etc.

But come tomorrow between 4pm and 7pm my broadband line will suffer slow speeds, through no fault of my pc, router or my line.

Good idea about asking if any problems exist on my exchange.

All else being normal, I would definitely be looking at REIN as a possible problem now. Often REIN can be narrowed down to a specific time frame when it is caused by faulty street lighting, for example. At the moment I would expect this to be much later in the evening though.

Take a look at the following link at take a suitable radio for a little walk to see if you can pick up some interference.

      ::. Kitz - REIN .::

It may well be impulse noise causing mass crc errors at certain times of the day
you are pushing 15meg out of 40db attenuation
id check your crc errors via telnet just to rule it out

      port a1 show

      and look for

      RSCorrectedErrorsDn =
      RSUnCorrectedErrorsDn =
      RSCorrectedErrorsUp =
      RSUnCorrectedErrorsUp =

expect loads of corrected thats being fixed by interleave and trellis
but if you have thousands of uncorrected that can be a problem

I think Shonk may have a good point, getting 15Mb out of a 40 db attenuation is really exceptional, even with a super dooper router.

Could I suggest you put the Sky router back on line during this slow period and see what happens.

At the same time, keep trying to find out if the exchange is having problems during this period. Between 4-7 is when the line becomes busy/noisier so it could be either the error rate increasing or lack of output at the exchange.

hi glad to see im not the only person having bb problems with sky, i myself am from n.ireland and have sky bb truly unlimited and over the course last few days week or so my speeds have been up and down.
LIke during the day sppeds i get are 100 per cent but come 3 onwards it dwindles and will not be at dl at full campacity at 12 midnight, lol feels like sky are turning inot bt lol throttling at peak time lol.
I download via filehosts ie wupload fileserve or filesonic as premium, but wat i have noticed is if im downloasding a singlefile i gt bad speeds but if i have 3-6 files gonig same time i get my normal speed lol so can acnybody give me a heads up as to wats sky are palying at lol.
I lado did my router checks virus scans and malware checks am clean as a whistle so i look forward to hearing from you guys on at i should do lol.
