New to SKY BB and its very slow...

      Hi

Connected 3 days ago to sky BB. I used to connect at 12 - 13mb with talktalk with an estimated speed of 17mb.

Since starting with SKY I am lucky to get above 1mb. I understand that DLN is potentially slowing things down, but my router stats show as follows:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 936550 1436987 0 69824841 1854781054 19:21:07
      LAN Up 440704 356880 0 209438256 35415314 43:35:55
      WLAN Up 2346253 1508103 0 2147483647 138171516 43:35:38
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15306 kbps 510 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.5 dB 16.1 dB
Noise Margin 7.2 dB 21.5 dB

Am I right in thinking that this means my router is connected at 15mb? If it is, then why, when I do a speed test it shows at just under 1mb?

Have called SKY, and they seem to think its DLN, but dont seem overly confident that this should be running quite so slow..

      Any help is appreciated

Connect to you router using an ethernet cable and then download this 100MB test file and see what speed you get.

Wow! What a difference a cable makes, connecting at 15mb now

So is that as quick as it will go wirelessly then? Again the talktalk router was also wireless and a lot quicker

      Thanks for the help

Was going to say, could be contention on your local airwaves causing this problem

I'm hoping to move to ethernet soon as I want to use Gigabit speeds and a NAS box
