      Ping changed after speed increase

Recently I had purchased a new faceplate to improve the quality of my connection, I had a huge change in my noise margin, so I rang up sky and was put onto ADSL2. After this, my pings dropped from averaging between 60-80 to about 10-20. But my speed wasn't increased.

I rang up again and asked for my speed to be increased from 10mbps. I was boosted to 14mbps, BUT, afterwards my ping increased to average 50ms. Anyone know why this may have happened? I only had those super low pings for about a day, but I really did enjoy having them.

Should I ring up Sky and ask for anything in specific? I have asked to be put on a gamer profile before, but perhaps that was reverted when my speed changed.

Upstream should really be higher, can't really say if they've changed the delays back from 8ms to 32ms but if you give them a call they be able to sort out both issues

Re: Ping changed after speed increase

      should reach 1000 - 1100Kbps on the upload, 14.5Mbps on the Downstream, 25 - 30ms ping times on ADSL2+, when i use g.dmt i get 10 - 14ms ping, ADSL2+ gives me 25ms+
      so pings are lower on G.DMT. . . .

      if i sync at 8000Kbps on G.DMT i get 10 - 14ms ping
7999kbps on ADSL2+ gives me 50 - 60ms ping due to the amount of error correction that gets put on the line on the profile i am on, im glad sky put me on this coz i can pick and choose low ping or high ping and very stable, ADSL2+ for downloading, G.DMT for gaming with a low ping time, i use commands to tweak the modulation type on my D-Link sky router.

Re: Ping changed after speed increase

I know the maximum speed on G.DMT is 12mbps, but can anyone verify receiving lower pings? And are these commands not possible on dg934g?

Re: Ping changed after speed increase

your best option it to ask sky to put you on G.DMT and see how it goes?
      I thought 10Mbps was MAX for G.DMT maybe I'm wrong . . . .
but the ping times can be lower DEPENDING on the profile sky put you on.
i have found G.DMT to have lower ping times for some profiles sky have put me on,
but not everyone gets lower ping by going on G.DMT.

normally 25 - 30ms ping on G.DMT, but you may get lower than that.
