`Have had a look at the DGND3700, it looks very good. Do you thing it is 100 better than the new sky router imminently due? It is around 135 and the sky one is 35 so is it worth the difference in your opinion? Thanks.

Re: Full wireless connection but no internet

Personally I really do like the router.

It is a new product and whilst it works a lot better than the Sagem 2304n did (and even now), there are a few bugs with the firmware.

You can use it in a number of different ways as it has both WAN connections, but you can only use one of them at a time (i.e. can be either ADSL2+ or Cable/FTTC/FTTP, but not both together).

Take a look at the thread here where I have mentioned more about it's features and benefits:

      Netgear DGND3700 N600

and also take a look at the threads in this part of the Netgear Forum:

DGND3700 Discussion Forums - NETGEAR Forums

Just to be clear, the 2.4GHz channels will provide the stronger signal, with a potential speed of up to 300Mbps. The 5GHz channels can also provide up to 300Mbps, but due to the technicalities of the higher frequency it will be weaker that it's own 2.4GHz channels.

This is all discussed further in the Netgear forum.

Re: Full wireless connection but no internet

Sorry, i could not find the reason for the use of 2 sky routers? can anyone clarify, also, how were they connected? RJ11 to the phone line or RJ45 to each other?

      Thanks

Re: Full wireless connection but no internet

Two routers are used to spread the wireless signal and to provide a switch where other devices can be connected. One is plugged into the phone line and the other is plugged into the first router using an ethernet cable or sometimes with the use of Homeplugs.

Re: Full wireless connection but no internet

Connection really slow. After using istumble and getting the attached results where everyone seems to be on channel 11, I tried to change the channel on the netgear router but it will only work on 11. Is this how its meant to be? cheers.

Re: Full wireless connection but no internet

I am surprised that you can't use channels 1 & 6, since these appear to be relatively clear.

It might be possible that there is something local that is interfering with the frequency that these channels use.

Check that the router location is set to UK. There should be no reason why you can't select channels 1-13. Also make sure there is not an Auto selection applied somewhere which is putting you on Channel 11.

Unfortunately you are infested with BT routers, many of which have the ability to swap channels, you will have to check the channels at different times and compare the results.

Re: Full wireless connection but no internet

Ok thanks for the advice. Hopefully the new sky router will be out soon and I can give it a try until I can justify buying scubbies recommendation. The router is set to europe which is the only option. I can change the channel but then loose the router altogether and have to reset it to regain access which restores channel 11. I can't see anything obviously insisting in channel 11, but not sure where to look.

I don't know enough about Macs to advise, but with a Windows machine I would advise looking for the latest drivers for the adapter. iStumbler shows the full spectrum of channels should be available. Maybe another Mac user will contribute?
