      Finally got connected today

      After a 2 day delay due to a line fault I'm finally online with Sky BB.

      Here are my stats:

      Connection Speed 4095 kbps 606 kbps
      Line Attenuation 12.0 dB 7.9 dB
      Noise Margin 15.3 dB 16.7 dB

      Done while connected to the test socket. Should I just leave it connected to my test socket for the duration of DLM?

      And the traditional "how much can I expect" question

      Leave it in the test socket till DLM is complete.
      Should easily manage a 20MB sync with those stats.

      Sweet, thanks for the input.

      Question about the gaming profile, will it lower the speeds?
      What would be a decent ping time to bbc.co.uk
      Currently getting pings in the early 40's

      Nope. It will increase it slightly.

      I guess 25-35ms should be pretty decent by ADSL standards.

      You will find that the ping will improve when DLM reduces your max delays to 8 (puts you on the gaming profile). It should be on 16 right now.

      Re: Finally got connected today

      Is there anyway I can find out the max delay or is this only visible from sky's end?

      Re: Finally got connected today

      One thing I hope you are aware of is that if you plug your router into the Test socket when DLM is running, moving it to another socket afterwards will probably result in a speed reduction.

      Using good quality kit like the BT NTE2000 extension kit is unlikely to see any difference from the master socket. Only poor wiring should make any difference. If multiple extensions are present then fit a filtered faceplate.

      Re: Finally got connected today

      @Isitme & @RUNITDIRECT

      The socket is kind of "hidden" behind a desk (its the only socket in the flat) so no problem for me not just leaving it connected to the test socket for the time being.

      @Exdee
      Thanks for the info.

      Re: Finally got connected today

      If you have no extensions, there should be no difference between the Test socket and the faceplate.
