I have Sky Broadband Unlimited and my attenuation is 25.5db.

My downstream connection speed is 17022 kbps. Just thought this might give you an idea as to what you might get.

I've never had a problem with my connection since getting broadband from Sky last September, its a superb mix of price, quality/reliable broadband service.

Re: New Sky User (well, ordered tonight!)

Many thanks for posting. Looks like I should be receiving something similar. Currently I am still at the behest of the early DLM.. still on 4095/605 at the moment.

However, here is a stroke of luck - I'm working from home tomorrow! How convenient.

I'm hoping the speed will pick up overnight and I can take the ol' girl for a good flex tomorrow.

That and I have to replace two fans in my PC as they are intermittently stopping.

Have fun tomorrow replacing the fans. It put some old tights to cover the vents on my desktop some time back. This has reduced the internal dust & prolonged a GPU fan which was starting to fail.

As for DLM, it will kick in some time within 72 hours of you going live.

Yeah I expect you should see something similar. I had one of the two fans on the rear of my PC do the same thing about 3 weeks ago, so I decided to replace both the fans as they were both the same age and thought the other fan might be near to failure also.

I'm sure you'll be more than happy with Sky. I was lucky with DLM initially, it started me off on a downstream sync of 17835 kbps but after DLM had ran its course it ended up at the figure I mentioned earlier.

Re: New Sky User (well, ordered tonight!)

I'm not sure dust is my problem - I have filters everywhere.

I have a 200mm case fan that slows to a crawl and stops, and also a 120mm fan. They are both Antec fans that came with the case (P180/2 Mini)

They are both connected to fan controller built into the back of the case, and I'm not sure if that is the issue.

Anyway, the 200mm isn't a massive problem as my case doesn't really contain a lot of heat - I do run very efficient components.

It's when the 120mm fan stopped that worried me - it's the exhaust fan for my Corsair H50 unit... (water cooled) so I ended up with a VERY warm CPU too..

I don't leave my computer turned on at all anymore until I got round to finding replacements.... (I mean leave it turned on and walk away from it!)

Re: New Sky User (well, ordered tonight!)

I knew it. I was right. BT Broadband - goodbye forever: -

      Connection Speed
      15826 kbps / 945 kbps

      Line Attenuation
      27.0db / 15.4db

      Noise Margin
      7.2db / 15.4db

I doubt I will get any more speed - however, my *actual* throughput is identical to my dad's. I'm very very very happy with this result if it stays!

Downloading right now at 1.62MB/s and it's absolutely solid, i.e. 1.62MB's every second!

You still have plenty of room for improvement.

The upload speed has room to improve & this could also improve the downstream.

Aye. It normally takes a minimum of three attempts, from what I have seen on this forum, but it can last up to 10 nights.
