      Ultra Slow and Intermittent Connection

      Hi Guys,

      Iíve got a problem with my Sky Internet. All of a sudden itís gone from 3mb down to 1mb and no matter what I do I cannot get it to go any quicker. I often find that the connection now becomes unstable and intermittent, Iíve spent hours on the phone to Sky and their tech guys have been unable to fix it and consistently promise call backs that never happen.

      If I ping ww.google.co.uk it drops packets every 10 -15 pings and I canít get it to become stable; in addition even though I am connected at 1mb there is no way the connection is running at 1mb it can take 15 mins to load one website sometimes and then at other times it seems really quick!

      Iíve done all the usual plugging into test port of my BT socket etc and Iíve tried three different computer 1 was a laptop, 1 a netbook and 1 a desktop and the problem remains the same.

      Can anyone suggest anything at all? I've pasted my Connection details below, what I have noticed is that everytime I reset the router it will always connect back at 1020kbps could this indicate a cap?? Although if it is Sky donít seem to think there is one on my line at all.

      How many sockets do you have?
      Are these stats from your master socket?
      Can you post your stats from your test socket using a different micro-filter? Make sure you reboot the router too.

      Thanks for the fast reply.

      Only have one master socket in the house and have no extensions. Took this socket apart and plugged into the test port. Rebooted router and these are the results I'm getting the ones I've pasted. Tried three different brand new filters and also without a filter but results are the same.

      Restarted the router each time

      Looks heavily capped at 1024/800. With the router in the test socket, call Sky and ask them to uncap it.

      Hi Thomasdavid1,

      I am sorry to hear that you have been having issues with your speed. It sounds as though you have tried a lot of troubleshooting - all of which would be asked of you to try with an agent on the phone, but could I get you to have a look at this link to make sure that you have tried as much as you can please http://bit.ly/g5yzSv.

      It would really help if you could contact us whilst being in the test socket so that we can check your line for errors/noise issues and may be able to have a look at making some changes to the speed if it is possible to do so.

      Read the post, he is waiting on call backs from your Help section which have not been forthcoming.
      Iíve spent hours on the phone to Sky and their tech guys have been unable to fix it and consistently promise call backs that never happen.
      Maybe you can use your influence to actually help, rather than give useless advice.

      Lol thats one unlikely request isitme.

      It appears his line may be cappd at a 1mbps profile.

      But you gotta make sure you call them and get thru to CST.
      They'll get you back on your way to 3mbps in no time.

      Getting back to 3mb is not really good enough, the line should support at least twice that speed.

      Well if he gives sky a call they should uncap it to the maximum possible.
