      Hey....

My connection is exactly the same, I've been racking my brain thinking what it could be for ages now!

I've been with Sky for about 3 weeks now, I get a good steady 5.5meg download in the day, it drops off to anything between 0.5-2meg in the evening and at weekends!

You would expect a slight drop with the line noise going up, but surely not that noticable?

It's doin my head in now!

I'm on the connect package, what do we do?

      Gav.

This is the first time I have been able to 'play' late. Right now, 2 a.m the service is exactly what I expected it to be. Evenings are diabolical.

No idea what the problem, or the answer is yet, but I will find out.

It might be an idea to put our exchange name in our profiles. It might help troubleshooting.

The nightly slow down has officially started. I'm connected to the Windsor exchange: THWO

If Sky need any proof of the degraded service after 1900 hrs service then here it is.
No doubt tomorrow morning speed will be back to normal.

Sorry i forgot to add my router stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.5 db 16.5 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db 12.5 db

Update: I unplugged the phone lead from the back of the router for 60 seconds, plugged it back in and then did another speed test. All back to normal at a slightly lower sync speed.

Connection Speed 15177 kbps 764 kbps

Add me to the list as well.

Been on Connect since the 29th Sept but only got going yesterday (6th Oct) due to router issues with Sky.

On the 6th I syncd at 2752 with a 63.5 attenuation and SNR of 6db, speed tests revealed 1.89MBps throughput which is good considering the sync speed pegs me at 2Mbps throughput. Within a few hours the sync speed dropped to approx 1300 with 1Mbps throughput speeds. I believe the sync went down because the router kept locking up due to Upnp issues I believe. Having disbaled Upnp the router no longer locks up after 16 minutes as was happening before. Anyway gets to night to see what gives a nd low and behold my throughput is less than a 0.5Mbps Broadband service, not exactly what I am paying for.

Today the router syncd at 1664 with the same attenuation which leads me to believe the attenuation figure is wrong as my DG834G was reporting approx 60db and managed to hold a sync of 2272 for a few days but as I did not have my actual router I couldn't fully connect to the network to test.

Speeds again tonight are sub 0.5Mbps, I don't understand how my previous fixed rate 1Mbps service didn't suffer any significant speed drop outs yet this Max service does. The speeds pick up again just after midnight.

I don't want to keep rebooting the router as my sync speed will drop and I'll never get my data throughput level back up. This 3 day wait business is crap considering that if sync lower your throughput will go the same was within a matter a minutes and not 3 days!!

This is obviously not just an issue with Sky, I believe it is the ADSL Max product that needs serious looking at.

Well this speed test has taken me above the 0.5Mbps but latency is high, the first tests I did yesterday had me at 27ms and also had me in the UK, this particular test thinks I'm in France!

I have managed to get my username and password so I could try another router. It was just the same. At least I have ruled out the router being at fault in my own mind.
