      You need to ring them. Your downstream noise margin should be at 7. Ask them to uncap your downstream. Restart the router before you make the call.

      You won't get through to CST on the normal number. Just ring through and see what the advisor can do for you.

      Thanks guys, on hold now.

      Any thoughts as to the rather large difference in the speed test results and the router stats though. I understand that you lose about 1MB but I'm 4 or 5 adrift as it stands.

      Sorry for the novice questions but I'm learning with every post

      Did you run the speed test wirelessly? If so, then it could be down to that. Otherwise, you may find the line is building errors which, if in abundance, could in turn cause throughput issues.

      Marginaly better but still some way adrift. If it turns out to be throughput issues am I right in assuming that's a wiring problem and an engineer will need to get involved? ()

      You are confusing your sync speed with your throughput. Your latest speed test is fine for your sync of 15mb. How did the call go?

      After being cut off twice whilst on hold I'm hoping for 3rd time lucky.......good job they're 24hrs!

      Ok, so after a few failed call atempts I resorted back to email and here's what I received this evening plus my stats using ethernet plus new XTE-2005 and Belking RJ11:

      ".......Thank you for e-mailing the Sky Help Centre again.
      I have taken another look at your line now unfortunately there is no way we can increase the line speed beyond the 15 Mb's you are now trained in for. Your downstream noise margin is set to 7db.
      This is quite a good connection and if there was any way I could improve it further I would certainly try my best to do so. I just hope you find it adequate for your use."


      Connection Speed

      Down - 15285 kbps

      Up - 902 kbps



      Line Attenuation

      Down - 25.5 db

      Up - 11.9 db


      Noise Margin

      Down - 10.3 db

      Up - 8.0 db





      I guess all I want to know is am I actually getting the maximum I can as it says in the email or is there anything else I can do to improve it.
