      Constant disconnections when downloading

Hi guys, I've had Sky Broadband for about three months now and to be quite honest i'm getting fed up with the fact that there seems to be no answer that is helping to remove this problem. It Occurs whenever i am downloading through a torrent and i am 100% sure this is the problem because i've not downloaded for days and it has been stable and staying connected. However, when I do download it is off within 5 minutes and it is a joke considering i'm on 'Sky Broadband Unlimited' and there should not be a limit to what I am downloading.

Here's some stuff that may help you guys:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time

      WAN MER 320315 267816 0 117642737 126976510 1:06:36

      LAN Up 256695 318532 0 99523451 116402884 1:08:22

      WLAN Up 56298 44942 0 47065484 8760304 1:08:03

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream

Connection Speed 15359 kbps 945 kbps

Line Attenuation 14.0 dB 8.7 dB

Noise Margin 7.8 dB 15.9 dB

I have a SAGEMCOM Sky router and subscribed to Sky Broadband Unlimited for 12 months.

Also, i did a speed test on speedtest.net and got:
      PING 43 ms - Download Speed 12.09 Mbps - Upload Speed 0.71Mbps

Which of these two routers have you got?

Are you connected wirelessly to your router? Is your router at your master socket?
Your speed is kind of slow for your attenuation. Can you post your stats from your test socket?

      Re: Constant disconnections when downloading

My router is definitely the SAGECOM F@ST 2304. There are several connections to the router in the household, 2 wired and 2 wireless. The download problems seem to occur with wireless and not wired. I think I am connected to the master socket (?) any help defining this and how to tell if I have this would help, if it helps then i recently switched over from BT and if you mean the white socket behind my router, then yes.

I will repost my stats in a bit for you using the test socket (If i can find it).

Your profile says Sagem F@ST 2504. That is why I inquired. The sagem 2304 has wireless issues and these will be fixed by a firmware update in the future. You can either use wired connections only or a different router till Sky sort this out.

A master socket is the first socket the main BT wire connects to after entering your property. There are two kinds as show in the picture below.

If you have one that looks like the one on the right. You will be able to remove the screws and access the test socket behind the faceplate.

How many telephone sockets have you got in total?

Check out some related threads too:

      Sagemcom F@ST 2304n Information

      Sagem F@ST 2304n WiFi issues

Essentially advice for the moment is to disable the WiFi on the Sagem 2304 router. If this is a problem for you, then there is another useful thread to make use of any old WiFi router which you may have lying around:

How to connect two Routers together

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Ok, thankyou. I read the thread that was posted by the sky guy regarding the issue and that was two weeks ago saying they expected an update 'soon' - any chance of an ETA because its dead annoying...

Unfortunately your guess is as good as mine.

I don't work for BSkyB or Sagem communications, so I have no inside information to advise you of.

There was a post on this forum suggesting that a firmware update is being tested by some staff, but beyond this I don't know what is happening.
