      Finally left Sky Connect...now what?

After many months of problems with Connect I've finally switched to Plusnet. I got the email today saying that I'd successfully completed my switchover after just over a week, but I'm slightly puzzled at what I'm supposed to do now, how exactly do i make the switchover?

I wasn't sure if I'd been switched, so I attempted to run a Speedtest on speedtest.net, which for some reason wouldn't work and says that the "configuration load failed". Eventually I managed to get it started, so here's the results:

For whatever reason it thinks I'm in the south of the UK as well. I've restarted the router, unplugged all filters and plugged back in etc, so has anybody got any idea what I'm supposed to do?

      Thanks

You dont make the switchover, the isp's do.
Your speedtest graphic shows you are still connected to Sky.
I would call Plusnet and inquire with them.

Re: Finally left Sky Connect...now what?

Plusnet have said that i need to enter my new username and password settings into the router, anybody know how i would go about this? I've just lost connection to the internet and the light on my router is staying on orange so posting from my phone now. Is it even possible to be on plusnet on the sagem 2504? I have 2 other routers available if not.

The Sky router is locked down, unless you have loaded a custom firmware on it. You cannot use it on someone else's Broadband.

You will need to use one of your other routers.

Check their manuals for setting them up.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

I've tried another router, it's all set up but again I can't get an internet connection. The internet light isn't coming up on either router.

I personally have no idea what settings are required to set up your router for Plus net.

This forum is specifically for people who use Sky services & equipment.

Could I suggest that you call Plus net again to see if they can help you?

The problem now is that I can't get to the stage where I can enter my new details, as the internet connection for the house has totally gone. I'll give them a ring again.

Re: Finally left Sky Connect...now what?

Your router will need to have to have Plusnet dependant settings into the router.

After looking on the plusnet site I have found the settings that need to go into the router,

      Encapsulation: PPPoA
      VPI - 0
      VCI - 38
      Multiplexing: VC MUX

you will need to enter your new Plusnet username and password as well. Depending on what router you use will depend on where they go but most likely they will be named username and password.

Plusnet will have supplied you with those details.

If you are still able to connect with the Sky router, then the switch has not been completed. Leave your Sky router plugged in until the connection drops. Plug in the router you are going to use with Plusnet and about 60 mins later, you should be connected.

PS I have just noticed this is dated yesterday, you are probably connected by now.
