      Internet Not Working, just Power light on !

      Ive just signed up with sky broadband and was given a sky modem few weeks prior to activation date. On friday skyman came and put in sky phone line and that was also the activation date.
      Plugged in the modem and after about 5 seconds of the internet light coming on it went off and never returned just the single green power light on. Phoned up Sky and they told us to wait until next day as the activation time was anytime up to midnight. Day passed and still no internet so phoned up Sky again and they claimed it may be part of a faulty batch of modems and they were sending out a new one to arrive today (tuesday).
      Modem arrived and after putting in the cables etc, all lights came on green for about two minutes until the power and internet lights turned red or orange. I reset modem off and on now its doing the same thing again just a single green power light. Phoned up Sky again and told me same crap and they were just going to send out another modem. Starting to quite annoyed at this is this how bad sky broadband really is? Anyone else exprienced this and what I can do to fix this please thanks

      The wifi light on the router should also be lit.

      Have you got a spare router lying around? It could be used to confirm where the problem lies.

      Sounds like the firmware update has failed on both routers. Unlucky.

      Not sure why they sent you a new router instead of running you through the firmware restore process.

      You will need to be connected using ethernet for this to work, and router must be in recovery mode - power light only (and ethernet, if it's plugged in).

      If you have the Sky broadband CD v5, stick it in your machine, open the contents of the disc, go into Utilities, then Win (or Mac if you have one) and run the SRTool application, follow the instructions and it should automatically restore firmware.

      I'm having exactly the same problem, line was activated on Thursday but it will only connect to the internet for a few minutes when I switch it on. Seems to be clearly a problem with the router but I had to spend an hour with a "technician" going through their script before being told that there was nothing they can do and I'll have to wait up to 5 days for another tech to call me back.

      And you're saying this is a known problem???

      Seriously beginning to regret switching to them....

      It is important that when the Sky Router is first connected to the Internet that you do not turn it off too soon.

      Often they can pick up updates and you must not switch it off once an update is installing. There is information in the booklet from memory advising of the LED pattern to look out for.
