      Sky Router Static Orange Light

      Hi,

      I am having problems with my router. It has been working fine for 18months now, until last night when it had a static orange light on the connection @ on the router.

      I tried all the usual stuff like, turning off and on, reset, power off at mains, checking the cable etc.

      I rang Sky, after an hour waiting and no real help i am still stuck.

      Does anyone know how to fix this, or what is causing the problem? Is it at Sky's end or mine? Just dont know why it would randomly stop working!

      Hope someone can help,

      Thanks
      Paul

      Do you have a friend with a Sky router that you could borrow?

      Try their router & PSU.

      It means you don't have an IP address. Could be numerous reasons (stale session, router suspended due to billing, exchange issue etc.), but really only Sky will be able to help you out on this one. Give them a call again.

      No problem.

      In this case, you may wish to try a spare router of your own.

      Connect it to see if you can get an ADSL signal (don't worry about it login in for now).

      To me it sounds like you have one of two issues:

      * faulty router or PSU

      * faulty line

      First of all when you have the solid amber light, remove the DSL cable.

      I've seen this a bit recently where when DSL removed solid amber light is still present proving a faulty router.

      The DSL cable - is this the one going into the splitter?

      So if i remove that and the amber light is still on, it means my router is faulty?

      So its either the line or the router?

      Yes, the grey one.

      I don't really understand Sky support in a situation like this. You have no broadband and an orange light on the router, it is up to them to get you fixed. No wonder they have one of the lowest ratings of any support section.

      Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light

      The women i spoke to was obviously reading from a checklist and repeated the same responses word for word, turn router off etc. And i couldnt understand her, are their call centers in India?

      Hopefully get it fixed soon, after 2 hours, she eventually said they will get someone to ring me to do a line fault test.

      When this will happen i dont know, but im far from impressed!

      Would it be worth ringing again? What is the call rate of the support number, anyone know? Probably 1 a minute!!!

      Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light

      I would ring again if I were you. Support calls are free if you have Sky Talk and a few pence a minute if you haven't. Nothing like 1 a minute
