Slow Connection Speed via Direct Connection, WiFi working perfectly

I'm experiencing problems with my broadband connection.

My Netgear v1 (White) router is directly connected to my PC, while my laptop and iPad are connected via Wifi.

It's only been recently where my connection speed for my PC has started to become really slow.

Using SpeedGuide.net, the test results are showing as 77kbps download, and 175kbps upload.

My laptop gets 100x times this speed !

I've replace the ethernet cable, but can't think of anything else to do.

      Can anyone help?

Start your PC in Safe Mode with Networking and try a speed test here Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester

Also check the manufacturers site for the latest drivers for your network card. Do not believe Windows when it tells you you have the latest ones.

I tried it, but wasn't having much luck.

I used SpeedGuide again, and got the following results:

      SpeedGuide.net Speed Test Results
      34 kbps down (~0.03 Mbps, 4 KB/s)↓
      624 kbps up (~0.62 Mbps, 76 KB/s)↑

What speed did you get when you started in Safe Mode with Networking?

Did you get the latest drivers?

I think the quickest way to sort it out is to format your hard disk and reinstall from scratch. It takes a couple of hours, but it will sort it out.
