      Re: Any good ?

Sounds about right, you're more than 1.5 miles away though (or you've got a bad line)

      Re: Any good ?

mmm thanks, it is 1.5 miles away by road. Its a brand new phone line with nothing on it, not even a phone. I thought that was the default starting speed, I was hoping you would say something along the lines of "Yeah expect 10 Mb" when the DLM has finished. Gutted.

Still, its better than this what I've been used to

      Re: Any good ?

Even by road, you're further than 1.5 miles - 2.5 I'd say going by that attenuation

      Re: Any good ?

OK fair enough. I live in an unusual place, the phone line probably doesnt follow ther road, I reckon it comes in from an estate at the back of the property, big old mansion house in the middle of the park, & there's probably about 300 metres of wire just going around the house from the telegraph pole.

Thanks again. Think I'll go to the pub & drown my sorrows. lol. Still 7x better than what I was getting!

      Re: Just Connected

With a bit of luck I think you will get 8-9Mb, 10, if your line is very good

Thanks for moving my thread to its own thread. I'm used to forums where they tell you off for creating new threads when there is already an existing thread that will suffice. I didnt mean to highjack someone elses thread.

      Re: Just Connected

We find that adding to another thread causes confusion and you get posts like "are you replying to me or so and so"

You have made a good start, looks like you will get 9+Mb and 1.1 up

      Re: Just Connected

Well DLM has now finished (on 6th May). Results according to MySky

Line connection testing completed on 06/05/2011

Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to
      8.0Mb (8192Kb)

Your connection has been set to an upload speed of up to
      0.8Mb (800Kb)

Results according to non-Sky router (seeing as wifi doesnt work yet)

      Downstream 8187 (Kbps.)
      Upstream 797 (Kbps.)

Noise Margin 15 dB 8 dB (Upstream - Downstream)
Attenuation 46 dB 41 dB (Upstream - Downstream)

      Interleaved Path FEC Correction
      Near end indicator 41
      Far end indicator 380524474

      Interleaved Path CRC Error
      Far end indicator 863

& for the record, estimate was 5-7 Mbps

Now when DLM started, day1 - day 3, speeds were

8624-8680 down, 945 up & the connection seemed stable to me.

Day 4 onwards speeds have been around
      8160 down, 798 up.
& is now what has been assigned as my permanent speed.
During this time, although I did a few reboots, most of the time wifi was turned off & router stayed permanently on. I changed my router to a non-sky router on 5th May during the day (after the speed had been dropped a bit)

So basically what can I do to get back that extra speed (8660, 945)? which I had for the first 3 days.
Also the gamers profile with the lower ping, how will that effect my speeds?

      Also I ran cmd, ping bbc.co.uk & got 26ms

Edit, just for the record , this looks like I've been capped at 8 Mbps, yet I am supposed to be on Unlimited Sky LLU up to 20Mbps (I realise I probably wont get much more anyway, but thats not the point if I have been capped)
Edit again, Im using my own router which is an ancient USRobotics adsl2+... which I connected on the 5th the day before my DLM finished, did I screw this up myself by doing this
