      Router Problem

Hi guys. Bare with me I'm a new user and not very tech minded. I've trawled the forums a bit because I have a problem with the sky router. I'm on a unlimited package and am having problems with the router disconnecting when it is downloading (commonly when Iplayer is on or a Itunes download is going). Basic net usage is ok but not anything heavy. Sky tech complaints do not seem to grasp the idea or are providing any useful info. I've seen people provide their stats so mine are below. Any help is gratefully appreciated.

      Re: Router Problem

Is your connection to the router wired or wireless?

Are you connected to the master socket?

In order to determine whether you loose connection to the exchange or not it's important you don't restart your router. Post your router stats again when you experience a disconnection.

      Re: Router Problem

Connection to the router is wireless and I am using all the microfilter and cables sky gave me.

I spent the afternoon surfing websites nothing heavy (Facebook, twitter bbc sport) and the router was fine. Just tried to put on some iplayer and 10 minutes in the router threw me off. I tried to get the stats but as the router chucked me out, I couldn't connect to system admin. The only thing to do is a hard restart on the router.

How long have you been connected to Sky and what model is your router?

There is a good chance you have one of the bad batch with corrupted firmware. Call Sky and tell them the problems you are having. They will lead you through an update for the router using your Sky CD. If it fails they will put you on a list for a new router

      Re: Router Problem

Well the problem is still continuing most notably when watching a video online/downloading. I keep emailing Sky (I refuse to pay anymore to call them) but there response is dreadful and quite unhelpful. I've just emailed them again and more strongly worded email.
