      Amber light / Noise on the line?

      Hi, connection slowed massively over the last few months, and I'm only getting ~40kb/s download speeds.

      But even more recently, I've been having problems connecting. On my computer, I see Speed: 54.0Mbps, and Signal Strength: Excellent, yet every now the internet just stops working - even basic things like google searches don't complete. Instead I get rerouted to 192.0.0.1 or whatever the home address thing is.

      I've noticed that on the actual router, I have an amber light next to the @ symbol. When I reset it or switch the power on/off again, the router will startup normally, but then the same @ light will flash amber, and then repeat over and over again. When I pick up the phone I hear all kinds of noise on the line.

      Any advice?

      Unplug the dsl cable from the router. Is there still noise on the line?

      If the noise disappears it could be a failed microfilter.
