      Port forwarding stopped working

Last night my connection dropped for the first time ever since the dlm ended months ago. When it came back my router had changed to MER and speed dropped by 400kbit. Not really a major issue accept since that change occured port forwarding is no longer working. No matter what i do ports are staying closed upnp isn't working either even when ports are shown as open on its table thing.

It cant be a coincidence that this happened when my line changed to MER. Can i get it changed back to ppoa or can anyone explain or help with this port forwarding issue?

      Thanks.

It looks like you have now got the exact opposite to your first problem when you could not get the ports to close.

You are probably not wrong in your thought that it has been caused by the move to MER. Some found that resetting the router returned it to PPPoA, but his was only temporary and it soon changed back to MER. If I were you I would call Sky and tell them the update to your firmware has caused this problem which makes the router useless to you as you require the ability to open ports. They may send you a patch or even offer you a router exchange. It will depend on the agent you get how well they handle your problem.

The only other alternative would be to break the T & Cs and use your own router. Many have found that you can still connect with PPPoA, using the correct username and password.

      Re: Port forwarding stopped working

I was reading the official Sky forum just now, replacement routers are taking between 5-10 days to arrive, not the usual 3-5.

I mention this in case you do get a replacement ordered.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
