      Re: max delay profile

      Happy days then.

Your profile is now 20000/1312 delays 8/8 INP 1symb

I don't see how you were.

If you were on the 18Mb profile you would have had a higher downstream sync.

Unless you are on a DSLAM which is doubtful since you have phone and broadband with Sky.

Only way I can think of is if DLM had set a profile which cannot be manually set.

Do you pay BT or Sky for your line rental.

      Re: max delay profile

lol if your on Sky Voice and Broadband Network then you would be on an Metallic Path Facility in the exchange and would therefore be on an ISAM.

I new there were old DLM profiles that were over 20Mb but since I don't see them often I don't honestly know what all the settings for that profile are such as INP and max delays.

It still might make a bit of a difference to your ping times if the INP has changed.

To be fair the tool that she would have seen your speeds on is called swish and has next to no information in it. I can see everything that I need to from your stats but they are not mentioned in swish. She would of had to have access to LAMA to see your stats. It is also the same system that is used to reconfigure the line.

      Re: max delay profile

i have done a few ping tests in command prompt and i do think it is 1 or 2 ms quicker than before.
i remember someone saying that the fastest 22mb profile didnt cater for max delays? and the lady at sky said dlm had set me to 22mb and max delays neither of which i was getting as u could tell from my earlier stats!.
im happy with the prfoile im on now, thanks for your advice and guidance!
but on this occasion dlm definately didnt work for me!

Sky's implementation of DLM doesn't set the line for the fastest ping speed. It sets it for the most stable connection.

The drawback with the gamer profile is that lines can sometimes be less stable at the new speeds.

      It happens like that sometimes.

But when it works it's better than a manuel configuration

      Re: max delay profile

Yea like i hate sky answers says that will probably be best suited profile.

If you get really lucky youll get one of us guys with Core access and can configure ISAMs exactly the same as DSLAMS (Manually).

You wont lose a lot on speed, 15mbps sync rate, can probably sort that out on 8m/s delays keeping sync of 15mbps.

You can configure DSLAMS manually up to (im pretty sure) 24mbps.
      ISAMS will do 22mbps profile.
Or again i think manual core access is at 24.

      Max delays on DSLAM
      8ms
      16ms
      32ms

      INP (Lama access)
      1symbol
      2symbol
      4symbol
      INP(Core)
      0.5symbol
      1symbol
      2symbol
      4symbol

Of course standard gdmt and adsl settings in lama plus fast and interleave.
Also core access will giving new line codes such as gdmt2 and gdmt lite.

Also, Ihateskyanswers you seen the sagemcom brief?
