Is there a chance that you could check the WiFi connection speed of your router?

Members of this forum are aware that the Sagem 2304n has a maximum WiFi speed of 72mbps, but we don't know what the Sagem 2504N is currently set to, if that is what you have.

To do this you will need a program like inSSIDer installed.

      Many thanks.

However, have confirmed via PM with User05 that I'm likely to have an affected model as it starts C8C, so I guess it's also the 2304s?
I am wondering if flashing the router with the firmware on the CD has in fact turned from a 2504N to a 2304N.

I am 99% sure that the info tab originally said that the router was a 2504n, but when i looked recently it said that the router with a MAC address starting C8C was a 2304n.

As I have said before, you just can't trust a thing these Sky bods say.

I still don't think that it resolves the issue of allowing the encryption to be set to WEP though.

Which is a real pain when you get people that either haven't updated their drivers to support WPA or their is no update.

They are basically being told that they cannot use wireless and it might be fixed eventually but we have know idea when.

I tried holding the reset pin in for 10, 20, 30+ seconds but nothing happens. I spent an hour on the phone to Sky support who took me through the powering up, etc. They then promised to call back and never did, so I phone again and got another promise of a call back...

So, to cut a long story (this is my first day with Sky!) short - I have a black Sky branded Sagem router which only displays the power light. If I plug in an ethernet cable in to slot 1 I see a green "1" light up, but it shows in both Vista and Win 7 as an "unidentified network" and won't let me get to 192.168.0.1.

Sky seem to be dragging their feet about sending a replacement router. This is certainly not a great first experience. What can I do? I've searched for hours on Google but not found anyone who is unable to reset their router or not able to access it via ethernet cable! Also on the bottom of the router I just see Sagemcom, there's no model number. The CD I have from Sky is v5 if that helps.

Any help from the community here would be great - I'm getting none from Sky at the mo

It is as user05 suggested in the info tab dated the 23rd march sagem router refresh.

It is apparently only effecting routers with a starting mac address of C8C. The router according to the info tab is the sagecom 2504n.

That same router also has an issue with setting the encryption to WEP.

Just a sidenote think the info tab suggests setting the ip address to 192.168.1.2.

Although it is in the info tab nobody has been made fully aware that it is actually there.

Glad you managed to get sorted.

You must have got someone with a brain as the script doesn't say to set the default gateway or dns to what you mentioned. Although if this is not done it will not work.
mine was 2304 and had mac starting with c8c ( and its knackered )

Was it only the power light that was on.

There is now a firmware upgrade to fix it, if you have still not received the new router.

Sorry to hear you are in the same boat. You might get the existing router to start working if you follow the steps I took. For example, do you have "v5" on the Sky CD they sent with the router? If so, you might be able to upgrade the software (firmware) on the router which seems, for me, to have stopped the "power light only" problem.
