      Re: Strange happening

Probably not a glitch at all, just everything working perfectly as it should.

Actual performance will depend on the server you are downloading from. The router sync speed is the potential maximum.

      Re: Strange happening

Router sync speed is no where near potential maximum.

If you have sync at 11mbps. Maximum actual download speed of a file from a remote server (Obviously depending on server) but maximum would be 1.5-1.7mbps or so.

I know people will not agree with this, but, im right....

Fact - You cannot download faster than your sync speed.
Fact - ON ADSL you will always loose 10-15% to overheads.
Fact - To download at a rate of 1.5MB/s on ADSL you would need a sync speed of at least 13.5Mbps.

So you will gather I am not one of those who agree with you

      Re: Strange happening

      Here is the Math

Dividing by 8 converts Mb into MB

There are 8bits in a byte
      without overheads

      13.5Mb/8 = 1.6875MB

assuming that your overheads are 10%

      13.5Mb/10 = 1.35Mb

      13.5Mb - 1.35Mb = 12.15Mb

      12.5Mb/8 = 1.5187MB

Assuming that your overheads are 15%

      13.5Mb - 2.02500Mb = 11.475Mb

      11.475Mb/8 = 1.434375MB

I would do it for 11 as well but i really can't be bothered

      Don't worry too much.

Too many people who quote figures and don't realise how an upper or lower case letter can change the meaning of them with computers and comms. This isn't to say that this is the case with yourself though.

My spelling and grammar is terrible but the knowledge exists in other areas.

...but on a site where written communication is all too important, it is surely better to improve them both.

As a personal go for self improvement I would argue that they are important too.

Did you mean a personal goal?
