hello

I to had been having problems opening a number of webpages/sites.

I had a quick look at www.netgear.com and they suggest changing the routers MTU setting from 1500 to 1400 (Maximum Transfer Unit)

I have done this and things do seem to have improved, also "connection" does'nt seem to hang quite so often.

regards

Out of interest, people who are experiencing problems what operating system are you using (windows only).
Windows XP Pro and Media Centre (basically pro with slightly different functionality) install extra networking components and these can cause problems especially if UNpN is configured in the router. Microsofts website is one that appears to suffer as is the windows update site.

That one works here, but then I am using the OpenDNS DNS settings.

Anyone know how to enter these into the Sky router? I've looked for the DNS settings but can't for the life of me see them anywhere! I've had to resort to entering them manually into my windows and linux machines.

What is the range of IPs that Sky use? I will start contacting websites myself seeing as Sky seems incapable of sending an e-mail.

Great news from OpenDNS - the open source service has now brought their London servers online - see the OpenDNS Blog. The ping results this evening are actually better than Sky's own DNS:
  • SkyDNS round-trip min/avg/max = 30.0/31.2/35.0 ms
  • OpenDNS round-trip min/avg/max = 30.0/30.0/30.0 ms

I've been using the OpenDNS servers for all my Windows/Linux and PPC machines for a while and can recommend it to anyone.
