      96kbps Download Speed

Yep, that isn't a mis-type. But I was getting a mind blowing 0.2mbps about an hour ago, but it's getting worse.

I understand that it's peak time, so I would expect a slow down, but this isn't just a slow down- this time travel, back to 1996.

Tried the router in the test socket, reseting the router etc. Here's the stats:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 1641 1636 0 1688 8825 00:02:23
      LAN 2555 2466 0 13792 2360 00:02:57
      WLAN 1673 1391 0 11042 1225 00:02:14
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 26.0db 14.5db
      Noise Margin 8.3db 20.0db

We were told prior to signing up that the exchange would be upgraded to Sky's network with 3 months. That was around June, still on Connect. It's a joke that we pay money for this.

      Any help welcome, cheers.

EDIT: Speed tests were performed using a laptop connected via ethernet.

Hi I have just been looking at your exchange on SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search and SamKnows - Sky / Easynet LLU Sky have just upgrading 11 in Scotland they seem to be the latest Latest Sky Unbundled Exchanges on SamKnows last page. I know what you mean about the connect package. I was upgraded in November. Until you get upgraded there is no fix at the moment you could ask for a reduction as the package is not worth 17.00 a month to get 0.2mbps speeds. Mine and other lowest was 1kbps. Have you done the Bt speed test as that is the only speed test that Sky take any notice of for connect Customers Bt Updated Speed Tester

      Thanks for the help Steve.

Yea, we've been told before not much can be done till LLU comes to exchange. It's more so the fact we were told in plain English, that the exchange would be upgraded within 3 months, and it hasn't. Feels like we were lied to just to get us to sign up.

It doesn't seem logical, there's no LLU providers on the exchange, it's a fairly large village (oddly, the name of the exchange is a tiny place a few miles from where the exchange actually is). I'd say a fairly large portion of the town have Sky TV, it would make sense from a business perspective () for them to put their hardware in the exchange, I just don't get it...

If your exchange is being upgraded and you are paying the full 17, you should push them for a discount. I paid only 5 for connect for nearly a year before my exchange was upgraded. In those days Connect was a very good service too, no throttling whatsoever..

I think the problem is at Drybridge WSDRY exchange. There it shows only 1,164 residential premises and 43 non-residential premises. But you are right about TV, Telephone and Broadband. If Sky put their own equipment into all the small exchanges. Sky would have the benefit of selling all 3. As Tom has said. I also only paid 5.00.

      Re: 96kbps Download Speed

It never used to be so bad. Used to get 5-6 mbps off-peak, and maybe 2-3 mbps during peak, but now it's 2-3 off peak, and pretty much unusable during peak.

Guess we'll need to wait for the upgrade. Which I honestly can't see ever happening. :/

Just something to consider, since so many people complain about Sky Connect anyway: All the telephone calls to Sky are recorded and can be accessed at a later date.

Personally if I were in your position, I would want to put a claim in about being sold a Sky product under false pretences.

Give someone from Custer Services a call and ask:

      * When is your exchange being upgraded?
      * Why was it not upgraded within the 3 months you were promised?
      * How are Sky going to rectify this issue and recompense you for you inconvenience?

If Sky cannot provide a definite date, then keep a nice calm manner and start asking about a refund & how you go about getting you MAC code.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

If you are paying the 17.00 Speak to Customer relation. That is what I did. I was offered 5.00 a month after I informed them that Sky said my exchange would be unbundled within 3 months. Then they put me through to Customer service team that dealt with the connect package. I must admit they did try to help. In the last 8 months Sky have Unbundled over 300 exchanges in the UK. You could also ask about when your exchange is going to be unbundled.
