      Moving problems

I'm being connected on Friday 18th March and have one of the Sagem routers and really hope that I don't get the same problems as you. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

I'm moving and have the feeling that I should have followed my gut instinct that I should have stayed with Plusnet which I've had a trouble free service for the last 8 years. I've already had problems with Sky with them insisting that I needed a new phone line despite there being a perfectly acceptable one at the new property already. Spent an hour on the phone to them a couple of weeks ago when they got in contact with BT who confirmed that the line could be turned back on remotely. Had 30 of the 39 I paid for new install refunded but still haven't had the balance refunded. Then yesterday I got a text from Sky stating that an engineer would call on Friday to install the line Phoned them again and ended up having an arguement with the tool on the end of the phone who insisted that a new line was required, despite me trying to explain a number of times that it had been established that no new line was required. I finally got some sense in the end from another person at Sky.

I know, just know this is going to end in disaster. I'm very tempted to cancel the whole thing today and send the router back to them.

      Re: Problems with Sagem Router

It depends if the new line:

      1. Is live on BTs system, and;
      2. Is actually a BT line

If not then this is why Sky are saying you need a new line

Yes it is a BT line, but I had the line disconnected at the end of January following my fathers death in mid January. He was on Talk Talk through a BT line and the BT line was working perfectly well.

OK, so long as the line is active and has been for over a week there should be no issues providing a service on it. The problem with TalkTalk is that they're LLU only and everything goes through them. If this is the case the line needs to go back to BT first before Sky can provide a service

      Re: Problems with Sagem Router

There's two types of Talk Talk from what I'm led to believe. There's the pure Talk Talk which is LLU based and there's also the Talk Talk phone calls package through a BT line which my Dad had.

I'll be going on Sky's LLU package when it gets connected this week.

      Re: Problems with Sagem Router

Just to compliment IWNTE's response by adding a comment regarding the router:

      This is unusual.

Earlier this year Sky announced it's annual results. There were around 3.2 million Sky BB customers.

Each of these will have a router.

What we have been discussing it a batch of routers that appear to be causing an issue. For those unlucky enough to have received a router from this batch I sympathise. Sky can quickly send out a replacement via Parcel Post. Admittedly this will take around 3-5 days though.

In the mean time (I know it is against their T&Cs) you are quite able to obtain the faulty Router's sign-on details an program a router of your own with these to access the Internet. They are very unlikely to cut you off.

Agree with Scubbie if your are only going to be using the non-sky router for 3-5days then they can't really say much as they gave you a dodgy router

      Re: Moving problems

      Thanks for your help guys.

What tools do I need to get the username and password details from the Sagem should I get a problem?
