      How to block sites

I'm trying to set up the block sites in my Dlink sky router.

      Example:

      192.168.0.1 - Security - Block sites
      Keyword blocking = Always
Enter Youtube in "keyword or domain name"
      Add keyword
      Apply

Try to access Youtube from pc and laptop and can access it
Back to router, add "you" "tube""http://www.youtube.com"

Can still access it on any pc or laptop

Obviously making a newbie mistake here???

Another solution worth considering for individual computers is Advanced SystemCare.

Although I will admit to adding a couple of Ad sites to my blocked list, ASC will add a huge number of unsuitable sites to M$ Internet Explorer.

Many of the blocked sites are nasty autodiallers and others known to host viruses. The list is periodically updated.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Re: How to block sites

      Hello drt1710,

This can be done usually using software that allows you to set these restrictions on the computer itself, while there are some settings on the Sky Broadband Router which allow you to restrict times of the day that the internet connection is avaialble, we do not support setting this up through the router.

It's also worth noting that setting this up through the router settings will block all devices connected to your router during the times set so you would not be able to connect to the internet using any computers in your house and if you use Sky Anytime+ this would also be blocked.

...and if you do not have access to the PC or other device?

we do not support setting this up through the router.
Just to make it clear to other members, this poster has nothing to do with this Forum, apart from being a recently joined member. WE DO support using the router to block sites and also using Sky's parental control software.
