I am assuming that the lounge socket is the master socket?
It isn't the master socket but I am getting the same speed from both the lounge & master.

If it isn't, then it may be worth considering the purchase of a couple of HomePlugs to connect your Sky STB to the router.
Where is the best place to get these / set up etc.

Looking back I think i meant to ask if you were using the test socket last night.
I did try the test socket - it did give around 8mb as well.

Also is there any difference in the figures between the test socket & the master socket (i.e. with the faceplate)?
      No difference.
Whilst the router is connected to the test socket, is your extension/s live or dead?
When using the test & master socket last night - there was nothing plugged into the other extensions.

      Regards
      Steve

      Ok.

Plenty of places that sell them. There are a lot of posts on this forum describing their positive attributes. Essentially aim for a pair that have 100mbps or 200mbps connection stated (both are actually the same thing for these). Personally I would suggest a pair with a pass through for the electric socket too.

Be careful of some on eBay that are ex-BT freebies. A search will confirm, but a couple of models were recalled due to a fault.

Wasn't one connection 7999 & another 7900? A small difference, but significant during the DLM process in my limited experience.

Is it possible to double check this please? Occasionally people have had extensions incorrectly wired. Telephone extensions can cause problems with the ADSL signal in some cases.

      Re: Advice of router stats

      Hi there

I have just re-tested and got the following:

      MASTER
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7563 kbps 509 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 22.1 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 19.1 db

      TEST
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7994 kbps 509 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 17.2 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 19.4 db

      LOUNGE
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7811 kbps 509 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 22.2 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db 18.9 db

Master slightly slower than the lounge - however earlier on I got the same speed in the lounge to what is being shown in the test??

      Re: Advice of router stats

It is likely that the telephone socket on the faceplate in the Master Socket has become a little damaged or the is a little corrosion on the contacts.

Previously it has been suggested that you get a filtered faceplate. This would resolve the issue.

I am hoping that your upload speed has been changed overnight. It appears to be capped at 509kbps for a few days now.

      Re: Advice of router stats

Thanks for all the advice - I will consider a new faceplate.

Great news that I am still at 8mb.

      Regards
      Woody
