Cisco VPN Client blocks local network

      Hi,

I just joined SKY from BT broadband and I think I have DLink modem.

My problem is with BT I was able to use local network and Internet while I am connected to the VPN via cisco client but now whenever I connect to VPN my local network is blocked. I do have "allow local lan access" option checked and I did not need to do any configuration on router to be able to connect VPN it was enabled by default.

I did try vpn with a public net service and I am still able to use internet during VPN connection.

I looked every setting on router but could not find anything, wonder if this is a known issue with SKY broadband and if this one has got a solution. I really need local internet during VPN and RDP connection. Your help and experience is very much appreciated.

      Thanks

I use LogMeIn without too many problems. It allows remote control & the sharing of folders over the Internet.

I have exactly the same problem.

I have Sky BB and also had a business BB package with Pipex (now part of Talk Talk) until it was terminated by Talk Talk without authorisation. There was no problem at all with Pipex but no access to my local network with Sky. When I phoned them I was just told they only provided a residential service and won't look into the problem.

As far as I can tell it's a router firmware issue (whether by design of not, I don't know) because when I connected my old Netgear DG384GT (a non-Sky router) I have no problem accessing my local network. BTW I'm connecting using Juniper IVE

Re: Cisco VPN Client blocks local network

If you suspect it is a router problem, I wonder if the OP could extract the password and 'borrow' a non-Sky router from work to prove/disprove the issue?

Almost any ADSL2+ router will do for test purposes.

In the long-term, provided this solution works, the purchase of a descent WiFi n Router would be a valuable investment.

      Other Sky Routers

If the firmware has been updated on the router, it may not work anymore.
