      Which Speedtest?

      Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and would really like to test my broadband speed but unsure of which tests are the most accurate?

I have logged in to my router but don't believe the speeds it is telling me:

      DownStream Connection Speed 18694
      UpStream Connection Speed 960
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

The reason I don't trust this reading is because I use my connection for Xbox360 and never seem to be the host in any games?

Any help would be much appreciated!

      Re: Which Speedtest?

Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester is better than most.

You should get a bit over 16Mbps

Raw speed has not a lot to do with being Host in Xbox. Is your connection reported as Open or Moderate?

Strangely this question was kind of answered earlier today:

DLM Not Started - Line Active for 6 Days

The results that you get from the router are correct.

Your actual throughput between your Xbox 360 & where you are playing on-line games will reflect any decrease in the connection & traffic between both ends.

It pays not to use WiFi with the Xbox as this will slow it down.

If you post your stats perhaps we can offer advice on getting the best from your connection.

The two speedtest sites already mentioned are currently the better of those around.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Re: Which Speedtest?

Ah thats great thanks guys - I tried speedtest.net before and it didn't used to work but it does now. Thanks very much.

*EDIT* Unfortunately my router is not listed on the stats page - I have a Dlink router?

My NAT settings are open as I have forwarded the specific ports for Xbox Live.

Just seems weird as I have a friend with a slower connection who always seems to be picked as a host on call of duty - I'm just jealous!

      Thanks again.

That's a bit low. Are you using wireless?

My PC & Xbox are both connected via ethernet cable, although the wireless is still enabled on the router - my girlfriend connects her phone to it sometimes when I am not playing to browse the net.

Follow the instructions for the Sagem, the GUI is common to all but the V1 router.

See what you get from the Skyuser tester.
