      1st March Outage

My Sky broadband is very stable. But at midnight exactly last night on 1st March, the Sky router was re-booted, and since then, the broadband is down.

I had a yellow light to start with. But now the light is out.

Is there something significant about midnight on 1st March that caused this chain of events to occur ?

There is nothing mentioned here at the moment:

      Sky Broadband Service Status

I would suggest a phone call to Sky 08442 414141

There are a variety of potential causes to this kind of problem.

      Re: 1st March Outage

Just come off the phone with Sky Broadband faults, and they confirmed there is an outage at Harwich exchange reported at 00:30 this morning. BT Openreach is currently investigating. Sky's last update was just after 07:00.

The helpdesk analyst was very helpful.

Now need to wait for the exchange to be operational again.

      Well done.

At least you know it isn't your router or line.

Often these issues are resolved relatively quickly.

      Re: 1st March Outage

Thanks guys. The broadband has just come back up for me.

Hopefully this means the exchange issue has been fully fixed.

I suppose if the power outage was a fraction of a second, then that might explain why the router rebooted at the same time as the exchange outage.

But there were no other telltale signs in the house of a power fluctuation (i.e clocks)

Is it also possible that the dsl going down like that might have generated a dsl condition causing the router to reboot ?

Did your router actually reboot? What is shown as the System up time? That shows the last time the router was rebooted.
