      What speed expected?

      Hi

I have finally taken the plunge and signed up to the Max package

Bloke on fone said i can expect 6.5meg which isnt an improvement on what i got now

Stats on my billion router are:

      DownStream: 7.23Mbps
      Output Power: 0dBm
      S/N Ration: 16dB
      Attenuation: 20dB

      UpStream: 428Kbps
      Output Power: 22dBm
      S/N Ration: 10dB
      Attenuation: 37.5dB

Can anyone offer some advice on what i can expect....?

      Much appreciated!!

      **EDIT**

After upgrading my router firmware it appears these stats are the wrong way round.....

      should be:

      DownStream
      SNR Margin 10.5 dB
      Line Attenuation 38.0 dB

      UpStream
      SNR Margin 17 dB
      Line Attenuation 20.0 dB

The person at Sky can only give you a rough idea you could be surprised and get a higher speed.

I was on 2mb and signed up for max which bt stated my line would take 5.5 - 8mb and in actual fact I get between 10 - 12mb

They are very good stats you should get full speed from them
      here are my stats
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 25.0 db 13.7 db
Noise Margin 9.4 db 12.0 db
      Ray

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

ok i have just updated my router firmware as them stats didnt sound right for my distance from the exchange...

so after the reflash here are my actual stats:

      DownStream
      SNR Margin 10.5 dB
      Line Attenuation 38.0 dB

      UpStream
      SNR Margin 17 dB
      Line Attenuation 20.0 dB

looks like the old firmware had the figures backwards....

      anyone ideas on them stats??
