      Re: Line attenuation?

Due to changing to ADSL2+ - it increases by a few dB

      Re: Line attenuation?

      Here are my stats:

      Download Upload
      connection speed: 2345 605
      Line attenuation: 65 39.5
      Noise margin: 6.8 13.4

would being on gdmt decrease my line attenuation to 60db (what it was before activation), and ultimately increase my speed?

      Thanks,

      Reece

      Re: Line attenuation?

Yes most likely on a long line such as yours - my attenuation dropped by about 3 db when I moved from ADSL2+ back to G.DMT

I'm guessing you've tried the stats from the Test Socket etc etc

      Re: Line attenuation?

I have yes, also i have an ADSL Filtered faceplate attached.

DesertRaven - Did your speed increase by much?
It's just, before my activation (im guessing i was on GDMT) i was on 60db line attenuation, and i was only syncing at 2000kbps

      Cheers,

      Reece

      Re: Line attenuation?

To get over 2Mbps with a 65dB attenuation is actually extremely good! Also bare in mind that different routers connect differently to different ISPs exchange gear - changing to GDMT will probably go down to 63.5dB but I doubt it'll go back to 60dB

      Re: Line attenuation?

Please remember that you have only just been connected.

Once DLM kicks in (some time at night over the next 3 days or so) these figures can change dramatically over the next couple of weeks.

Leave your router plugged in and switched on during this period and the connection will hopefully improve.

Ideally try to use the Master Socket and ensure that you use the filters before anything else in the socket (especially the Sky STB telephone lead).

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Re: Line attenuation?

With an attenuation of 65dB they won't be changing at all - might even get worse!
