I have deleted your duplicate post. Do not post the same query in different sections, It only causes confusion.

Post your stats from your test socket.

      Re: Sky Broadband speed

How many sockets do you have? Can you identify the master? It is the one with a capacitor behind the faceplate. That's a small cylinder about the size of a triple A battery, usually yellow or blue.

      Re: Sky Broadband speed

Now can you have a look at the back of the face plate and see if there is a wire connected to terminal 3. If there is, pull it off. This is the bell wire and serves no purpose when using filters, but can cause a lot of interference with your broadband. Take your stats after removing it.

You could also check your voice line for noise, you can do this quite simply by dialling one digit and listening. You should hear nothing, except maybe a very faint hiss. Anything else you have to report to your phone rental provider as noise on your line. Don't mention broadband or they will do nothing.

Ultimately the best thing to do would be to replace the old type master socket with an NTE5 with a filtered faceplate.

      Re: Sky Broadband speed

You should consider replacing the current master socket with a NTE5 socket and filtered faceplate, this will isolate the rest of the internal wiring and give you your best connection.

Once this is done, you should see 5-6mb or more if your stats improve.
