need wiring advice -- i think

      Hello all,

New to the site and have tried to find the answers i need but i find it all very confusing. Hope someone can help me out.

I am on BB unlimited and on doing a test these are the results i got

Download speeds - Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to 1.5Mb (1536Kb)
      Upload Speed - 0.3Mb (256Kb)

I used the speed test on this site and got download - 1424Kbps and upload 113Kbps.

I don't know if i can make this better by getting some wiring advice?

I live in a 1930's house and the box that the telephone wires come into is small, narrow and oblong, it runs into an N??? - split front box . The split front box has two lines coming from it - one runs downstairs to the telephone and the other runs along the hall and into the spare room to the router.

      Any advice greatly appreciated.

First post your stats from the position your router is in now.
How to get your router statistics

When you have done that move the router to the master socket, remove the faceplate and plug the router in there. Use only the ADSL cable and filter supplied by Sky and post your stats from there.

& if things improve fit a filtered faceplate. Connect the extension for the router to the UNFILTERED A & B connections, connect the other extension to 2, 3 & 5.

      Hi Isitme and Runitdirect,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I watched the tutorials on the site so at least i now have a basic understanding. I'll get onto it tomorrow.
