What that shows is your master socket possibly has a bad connection, the stats for the extension are higher than the lower faceplate of the NTE5. You need to look at replacing the NTE5 and ideally fitting an ADSL faceplate. If the internal wiring is decent CW1308 then you should get what you get at the test socket on the lower faceplate and the extension.

More madness today, terrible connection from he master, any ideas why? No other devices plugged into sockets, router, connected via master, via filter, short grey cable.

Re: Secondary Socket higher speed than Master??

As above, did you leave it in the test socket? If not then you have a faulty socket on the lower front faceplate of the NTE5, you can't get a better connection at a secondary socket run off the back than you can at the master unless there is a fault, in your case it sounds like the actual socket may be duff. This of course assumes it is all wired up correctly.

Hiya, sorry I meant this is now coming off the test socket, tried it again this morning. My apologies for the confusion.

Just fitted a filtered socket to the NTE5, and these are the results:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 762 kbps 606 kbps
      Line Attenuation 57.0db 37.9db
      Noise Margin 7.1db 10.0db

Did you replace the NTE5? My personal thought would be you either have a faulty NTE5 or a line fault.

Re: Secondary Socket higher speed than Master??

Just the lower half of the NTE5. It is particularly odd, as even as of last night I was get 1.6mbps from the master (not the test). I can't see it being a fault with the NTE5...but I am certainly no expert.

Do sky limit the connection for line testing/speed testing?

Check the cable from where it comes into your house for any junction boxes which may have poor connections. Remove the second plate on the NTE5 and check that both incoming wires are securely tightened on to the A-B terminals.. Have a look outside, if you have an overhead line and see if there are any obvious signs of deterioration on the cable or external junction boxes.
