      Just been connected to sky LLU

      I'm aware that i start of at 4mbit how quick does it start to rise?

      Also my Line attenuation down has jumped from 38db when i was on plusnet to 43db is this likely to change or have i just lost some speed?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 4095 kbps 510 kbps
      Line Attenuation 43.0db 25.7db
      Noise Margin 7.2db 19.0db

      I'm using my old filter should i try the one that comes with the sky router?

      DLM will kick in either tonight or sometime over the next 3 days.

      Leave your router plugged in & switched on all the time, especially overnight as this is when most of the DLM changes are made.

      As for the filter, IMHO it is a good idea to change your filters ever now and again as the do tend to wear out. It might be worth swapping a new one in.

      I'd also recommend that you plug it all into either your master socket (long-term) or test socket (short term) as you'll get better results from there.

      Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
      Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Re: Just been connected to sky LLU

      Thanks for the reply, i will change the filter this evening.

      I'm all hooked up to the oldstyle master socket, so apart from changing filter i believe i'm getting the best from my line.

      I look forward to my faster speeds.

      Going by those stats at present there's not a lot else to be had but at least throughput will be better

      Re: Just been connected to sky LLU

      So is there a reason that my downstream attenuation has jumped from 38 to 43?

      I thought it would stay the same.

      Re: Just been connected to sky LLU

      For the present, don't worry.

      Initially the settings are just sufficient to get the line working.

      Either tonight, or sometime over the next 3 days, DLM will start. Typically once it does, then you full potential speed will start showing about 3-4 days later. This might vary, depending on the results obtained.

      DLM will take up to 2 weeks.

      Re: Just been connected to sky LLU

      There is two main reasons for the change in attenuation, the first is that different routers report the attenuation differently. It is not a 'set in stone' figure. The second and probably more important, is that moving from standard ADSL to ADSL2+ increases the attenuation by anything from 1-4dbs. I would guess that previously you were on G.DMT(ADSL1)

      Question Re: Just been connected to sky LLU

      Hi, Just gone live today on Sky LLU unlimited.

      Very dissapointed and worried about my current speed.

      ======================================

      Yesterday on Naims Ipstream Max in sync at 8mb :

      Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
      Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 832 / 8,128
      Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]: 7.52 / 171.68
      Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 19.5
      Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 14.0 / 23.0
      SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 10.0 / 8.0

      =====================================

      Today on SKY LLU:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 4095 kbps 605 kbps
      Line Attenuation 25.0db 14.0db
      Noise Margin 17.5db 20.3db

      =======================================

      I have previously been on Xilo's adsl2+ service and was in sync at 12meg but they only offered a 50meg useage so I left.

      Can I expect an increase once DLM completes? thanks

      Re: Just been connected to sky LLU

      Yes you will get an increase during DLM, that's what it is there for.

      You may want to ensure your setup is correct and get the router into the TEST socket to see what your line is really capable of.

      The start speed of 4mb should not have been a suprise to you though, it is detailed in your welcome letter.
