new Connect User - what do stats mean?

      Hi
We recently moved house and had Sky Connect installed. I changed the extension socket to a 'Wickes' filtered socket rather than have the filter dangling out of the wall and had no problems but connection appears to be very slow even during the day.

The following are the stats :
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 7571 7425 0 809 2028 00:38:51
      LAN 845667 765641 0 1336 282 157:17:14
      WLAN 761717 603215 0 203820 46662 00:38:41
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6144 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 19.0db 10.5db
      Noise Margin 12.3db 20.0db

I have no idea if these are normal or not!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

The stats mean nothing useful on Sky Connect.

If you want to browse the internet or download anything or game then you are in for a whole heap of dissapointment.

Sky Connect is about the very worst broadband package in the country, even dial up internet from 10 years ago sometimes out performs it, get you MAC code and move on whislt you can!!!

Re: new Connect User - what do stats mean?

You should plug into your Test socket to get a real idea of what your line is capable of. The type of faceplate you have only covers that socket and any running from it, it does not filter and sockets previous to that one or the master socket. You should have filters fitted to all sockets in use on the 'in' side of the socket, if you know what I mean.

At the moment your speed is much lower than it should be, you should be getting the maximum 8Mb available.

I endorse the previous comments on the suitability of Connect as a broadband service. Have a look at this thread and the many others on Connect.

Also try an Official BT speedtest as recommended in the first post in the thread.
