      New member - Sagem problems

      Hi Guys
What a great forum. Wished I'd found it earlier!

I have the usual Sagem router and have my main laptop on a lan cable to the modem. When my son logs on to his computer wirelessly (via belkin wireless adapter) it sometimes knocks me off or stalls my connection. Sometimes I have had a notice saying something about duplication (as though he had taken my ip number).

I have tried putting in the MAC number from under the router and put it in the page which finds the user name and code but it doesn't seem to work. I read (on here) that the code should only be letters and no numbers but mine has numbers??? Am I doing something wrong?

Also... previously (when on BT) I used to have a Netgear N1 router modem which seemed far more stable.... is it viable/advisable/worthwhile to swap over?

      Thanks in advance

One or both computers have set their IP address in their connection settings.

The Sky router should be able to automatically assign numbers itself. So if you know how, set both computers to automatically take the assigned numbers. If you don't, could you come back with the following information:

      1. Which operating system & version are you using on both computers?

      2. Do you have any other devices connected to your network?

The default settings for the Sky routers are for you to have a network IP address range from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.255. If one of your computers must have an assigned number, then set it towards the higher end (i.e. 192.168.0.250).
