      usage caps

that might seem a lot to some people and to be honest that may be more than i need however.
am i right in thinking that every time you open a web page e mail or write email or just general surfing that this comes off your usage, what about al the speed tests that we are told to do. is all this classed as downloads, you could use up all your gb doing speed tests. i normaly download i tunes to test my speed as this prog has very stable download speeds.
is there any way of checking our usage rather than waiting for sky to contact us ?
look forward to hearing your answers to my comments

      Hi markyb

As long as you are on the internet you will be using bandwidth.

Try one of these NetMonitor3.0 or DU Meter
      Ray

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      40gb?

hi, what happens when you go over the cap....?

does it just stop dead, or if you go over you pay the excess?

i think mine got to about 37gig then started to slow down to about 4k/s (unable to view web content speed) and now its stopped dead completely.

      cheers

Geothermalcat, Im on MAX and OBVIOUSLY wont have this problem, But however they may contact you only if your persistantly go over cap!

But I dont think it would be a problem if it was just a couple of months!

As for this disconnection, I dont really think they would, They may just cap your line @256kbps

One question? Is it upload+download or just download that constitutes "usage limits"

Also i wouldnt be so blasť about max customers being alright until we get proper definitions as to what is a FUP.

my up and down is about 80 combined, down being about 39-ish, but it seems that i have internet access again now, as i am able to post this message from home, but my bandwidth monitor reports that on this machine its about 38, but i know the laptop on the wireless has had a fair bit of bandwidth also.

so way to go sky for once.
