Happy with connection until a few days ago

Hi all, first post for me. Been lurking about this forum since i went to Sky and you guys have helped me so far with a few issues but i have one here for you.

I live right by the exchange and this is what my router stats are showing right now

Good huh? It's what i usually get to be honest, it's been fine.

But when i'm gaming I cant find a server with a ping below 150, Internet has slowed down, pings are high and this is my speed test...

I usually get 14/15mb down on speed test servers... All internet has slowed right down for some reason.

I have rebooted the router (DLink) several times, unplugged everything else (phone, sky etc) and i get the same results on other computers....
I have no idea what's going on. Am I being throttled some how?

Would be grateful of any help or ideas on this one.

      Cheers,

      Ross

Edit: Posted this here as the other post i think was in the wrong place.. Whoops Sorry.

Wait.... I've engaged my brain and looked at this thread -- Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Turns out there are 'Minor Issues' on the Sky Broadband status page in Hertfordshire area (me!). Bar-stewards.. Guess i'll have to wait an age for it to be resolved.

Keeping the exchange issue aside your download SNR is pretty low. Default is 7. I am surprised you can sync at all. Plug your router in your test socket and see if your snr improves.

I will plug into the test socket and see if there is any difference.
It's just strange that this suddenly happened, nothing has been changed in anyway my side of things.

      I am setup like so:

I have removed all other devices so it's just the router plugged in and my PC into that + reboot of the router but TNA, same issue.
I assume there is something screwy at the exchange with the "Minor faults" they're having.

I'm at work now so will check again tonight and hook up to the test socket.

As you are plugging into the master consider filtting an ADSL faceplate to remove the plug in filters and remove the ADSL from the secondary socket that does not need it.

Set up is pretty much spot on there. Do you have a test socket? If so, try the connection in there and repost stats

I would, but as this place is part rent part buy, i will get my face ripped off if i change the plates, I could keep and replace the originals when needed i suppose. It's an ongoing problem really as the idiots that built the place have stuck a single satellite connection on the plate and behind it there are 2 cables, only one can be terminated on the faceplate... I have Sky+ ..... nice one. *waves angry fist* .

Your noise margin is very low and this is no doubt the reason for the slow speed and poor ping. Resync your router by switching off its power for a minute then back on again. You will resync at a lower but more stable speed.

Re: Happy with connection until a few days ago

Hey, sorry no reply last night, apparently had to go have dinner with her friends... *sigh*.

Anywho, i managed to run a speedtest when i got back and it was back to normal!! Yay!! Didn't touch a thing.
I'm away all weekend but have told the girlfriend to keep an eye on it for me. I think it's resolved but will just get her to run speedtest every now and then a record the results.

I would guess your connection has dropped and resynced at a lower speed.
