      Question 10 day test period

Hi, I have just come back to Sky broadband, after being 'slammed' by TalkTalk, over the Xmas period and wanted to know about the 10 day test period. My question is this: ..the 1st 24hrs speeds were 3-4mbps then jumped up to 10mbps and stable connection. Now, 7 days into it, the speed has dropped down to 8mbps, but the connection has become quite unstable, is this instability because of the testing? and can the speed go back up again?

Need to see stats to advise:

How to get your router statistics

DLM takes snapshots of attenuation/speed/SNRs twice a day and snapshots of re-trains/errors once a day. If it spots any kind of instability or changes in conditions, then it'll make profile changes to stabilise it. Sounds to me, in your case, that something isn't right internally.

reboot in the morning and see how it looks, if it's still at 9Mbps it's could be capped but going by the noise margin it doesn't look it

How many telephone sockets do you use?
Is there a microfilter connected directly into each telephone socket in use, ensuring that nothing before the filter?
Is the router connected to the master socket or an extension socket?
Are you using the short grey dsl cable that Sky provided, or running an extension telephone cable to the router?
Do you have Sky tv connected to any telephone sockets?
Do you have a test socket?

You'll quite likely find that's hindering things a bit - remove the extension cable, swap over for the short grey dsl cable that Sky provided and re-post your stats. If they don't look much better, then ensure Sky tv is filtered correctly at the socket it's plugged into (filter must be before any splitters in place) and take a set of stats from the test socket and fire them up.
