Router reset: flashing lights, no connection-PLEASE HELP!

      Hello,

Since a power outage today, I have not been able to use my wireless. I thought the router was fried but I don't think it is.

First of all, every time I tried to connect it timed out. I had to enter the password and it just kept doing the same thing. I'm on a Mac.

Then I decided to do a reset on the router. It didn't work when I just held the reset down with a safety pin, so I did the whole taking the plug in and hitting reset as I put the power in.

The two top lights have been flashing green for ages. The power one, and the tick one. I ended up turning the router off and on to see if I could get it working again. It didn't, so I reset again, and I'm still stuck on the two lights flashing. They're not flashing in a way I've seen them do normally- it's one after the other, constantly.

Amber light is off. I tried to connect the router to the Mac and every password is apparently wrong, including my original one.

I need help, I have no idea what to do now! Is it normal for the lights to be doing this? Does it mean the reset hasn't worked, and what can I do?

      Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it may be the power supply for the router, do you have a spare one from something else with similar voltage etc?

Nope- I thought I did and in the process unplugged the modem. Now it's not flashing, just two solid lights- the power and wireless. The @ button isn't on at all. Still no connection. I don't know if it reset properly, how do you tell?

You power it up and hold the reset button in for 10 secs.

I did that. I said up ^ that after I did, the power and tick buttons flashed one after the other for over half an hour. I have then no idea if the reset worked or why they did that. It wasn't until I turned the router off and on they started flashing. The router is still not working, I still have no connection, the default password doesn't work when I try to connect on my Mac, no other passwords work and I can't access the 192. console.

Thank you for your help, anyway!

I just rang Sky- there's a problem at their end, apparently. It seems coincidental with the power going, but it's going to take 3 days for them to test the line. ****.

A problem on Sky's end? Just to confirm:

      - What lights are actually showing on the router now?
      - Can you ping 192.168.0.1, or even browse to that IP?
      - What's your exchange code? (SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search to find out)

Hello! Oddly, after pulling the plug out and putting it back in, the lights had changed. I have:

      1 Power light is green
1 Wireless (I think that's the wireless) green
Now the @ light is solid amber

I can't open the 192. address- how do I ping it?

      My exchange is Lower Holloway.
