Also what does BB stand for.
In that case, you got through to a complete moron. Even if he didn't possess the knowledge that the DSLAMs offer a potential 24mbps, it even says on the line configuration GUI that Sky use - 'Product adsl2plus 24mbps down 1.3mbps up'.

I'd love to be able to help you at this point, myself, but unfortunately I'd probably be putting my job in jeopardy by littering my logins over your account / line. Call through and ask to be transferred through to CST - if you have a ticket, then demand it.

I'll try again on the 7th of February, anyway I did a "pingtest.net" and got this:

I have 0% "packet loss", does it suggest anything about true line quality?

Re: Slow Speeds - New Router?

Sorry for the slow reply, I phoned sky on the 8th and speaking the to guy he now says that my line should get 8Mb/s, but currently I get only 5Mb/s. He then told me to unplug everything and then he ran a line test and discovered some sort of fault. He said he was going to log this to BT and then BT will call sky CST back after attempting to fix the fault. If necessary BT will arrange a engineer visit to my home (through sky) and attempt to fix any issues there. The technician believes there is a fault at the exchange as I also told him I often get crosstalk.

Finnally somethings happening, is it possible there is an issue with my exchange or this nonsense?

Re: Slow Speeds - New Router?

someone at BT Openreach called me back and ran a line test and it came up with a fault something called "Rectified Loop error". Then he told me to unplug everything, and he ran the test again. This time is came up clear, no error. He suggested the issue is with the equipment in our house and I should phone sky to get them to send a router.

Sounds about right, the loop errors (if clear when everything is unplugged) is something customer end causing the issue. I'd remove everything bar the router and see how things go. If better, replace other devices one at a time until something stops working and there's your cause

Re: Slow Speeds - New Router?

I phoned sky and they tested the line again and said there was an error. Then they test with only the router plugged into the test socket and still there was an error.

Then they tested without the router but a phone plug in and no error!!!! So clearly an issue with the router so they are sending me a new router and charging me 28 for it. I would have expected this to be free, but oh well its not worth the argument

You can't on the routers - or you couldn't when I was still working for them
