      How do I get Sky to cancel broadband supply??

      I bought a property on 20 December (i.e. a month ago) and moved straight in. One of the first things I tried to sort out was a phone line and broadband.

      The previous owners were with Sky for phone, broadband and TV. I set up a phone account with Primus which went live about a week ago. The phone number is the same one the previous owners had at the property.

      However, I have been trying to set up Broadband with PlusNet and everyday for the last week or so they have told me that they can't set me up as Sky are currently providing broadband to the property.

      I've called Sky several times and they won't tell me when the line will be cancelled, or if it ever will. I've emailed the previous owners who say they told Sky to cancel the line when they moved out. They also called Sky on my behalf last week who apparently said it would be cancelled on the Saturday just passed - but it hasn't been!

      I'm stuck in an extremely frustrating limbo...

      Can anyone here tell me what I can do to sort this out? I'm wasting about half an hour every day on this.

      The previous owners have to give 30 days notice for their service to be cancelled. It must still be within the 30 days. All you can do is ask the previious owner to call sky and confirm this as its in their interests as if the service is still with sky surely their still being charged? That's all you can do due to dtata protection but if it continues plusnet should be able to contact sky on a company to compnay basis you would think!!!

      You have a tag on the line untill it is removed you are stuck, I thought BT had to do it but either way you cant do anything.

      Would have been better to get a new line and new number.

      I am surprised you even got the phone moved unless they had cancelled the phone service, did you move line rental to Primus or just CPS to them?

      I get my line rental through Primus (i.e. I pay my direct debit to them).

      Just had another call from PlusNet who have been busy trying to resolve this for me. They have spoken to the people who deal with the Tags, and according to them Sky tried to cancel the line on 13 January, but somehow they didn't do it properly and so the cancellation didn't go through. He was told that it will be cancelled in January, but for data protection reasons he wasn't allowed to know the exact day!

      So...fingers crossed this is nearing a resolution but I won't be counting my chickens.
