Slow speed only in evening

I've been on sky BB unlimited with sky talk also for a few years now without any problems.
For 2 weeks now I've been getting slow speeds in the evening only, starting any time from 5pm - 7pm up until 11pm when everything returns to normal.
Web pages and video streaming are slow but worst of all my ps3 gaming is laggy as hell.
My son plays ps3 with his friend who is also with sky and lives in our area. They are the only 2 in the game with lag which says to me there's a problem in my area.
I've phones sky about this 10-15 times and up to now they've decided to give me a new router which is in the post.

BT infinity started in my area 2 weeks ago, am I being paranoid or could this have a bearing on my poor speeds? sky say no

Sky seem to be having some proplems in the North Wales area at the moment and as you are withing the Chester phone number, I suspect this is causing your issues.

Hopefully they will get it sorted soon.

As you seem to be using the White sky dg834gt router, check the error counts while you are suffering from erratic speeds using the detailed stats link on this page:- Mel's Notes: Sky Netgear DG834GT-1skuk

The router keeps a count of CRC errors over the last hour in 15 minute periods, and there's also a counts of HEC (atm header checksum errors), RSuncorr and superframe errors since boot.
