Cool To Be no Not to Be

Ok, I have been on the net for just over 2 hours doing some research on SKY BB and to be frank it aint looking good.

I got sky TV today with the means to get sky BB as well, but needs some advice from the people who has gone through this already.

I’m a hardcore gamer and need my broadband to be stable and not disconnect on me the whole time.

My Question is, With all the problems with connections, routers, sky.. is it worth getting it???

Going for the 8meg 40gig download limit package…

      Please give me some advice??

      Thanks

      Welcome to the site Zipie

Thats I am afraid is something nobody can answer as you have probably read on here a lot of members have had some real problems and would advise you against it but there are a lot of members who have have had very few or no problems.

So all you can really do is weigh up the opinions on here yourself and then decide if you think it will be ok.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      @ Zipie

Hi there. Few weeks ago I would have inclined to say "If you have the patience, then go for it!"

Today, I would NOT recommend SKY BB until their problems are settled.

However said, that, there are many here who are happily connected.

I tried to get SKY BB (from Pipex) in anticipation of a reasonable service from them.
It didn't happen for me, & my personal experience was a nightmare with them.

      I would wait 3-6 months!

I probably will try again myself to connect with SKY BB next year.

If I knew what I know now I would never have bothered with SKY BB.Ihave gone from an excellent service(PIPEX) to one that cannot connect to most of the popular websites, on a Google search I am lucky if I can connect to 50% of the sites listed. How a major comany like Sky can allow this to go on for so long without resolving the issues is beyond belief. There is advice on this site about reinstalling dlls etc but they don't work the problems go deeper than that.I suppose I am just going to have to sit it out until things get sorted,Good job I have access to the net at work.

When I first came across this forum, there were more "How to get connected", "Is is worth going for" etc. (this is justified as most ppl want to take the opportunity of a good money saving offer)

Now I'm seeing more & more "my activation has come & gone" or "Im trying to cancel but..."

Though this forum is very informative once you are connected (or to be) & have minor problems that need ironing out & to share each others experiences.

Thanks for all the replay's... i will take it to heart and see what sky tells me when i want to switch over. I went through hell with UK-Online to get connected but the service after was Brilliant. I think it's just coz they got soooo much people wanting it at the moment they flooded with new joiners.

      Cheers guys.

Since you have had experience of UK Online then you will know what SkyBB should be like since Sky own Easynet and use there equipment in the exchanges.

Well good luck in whatever you decide

If Sky and UK Online both use Easynet why do none of my neighbours who use UK Online have any of the access to sites problems that I have with Sky?
