      Question iPad query

I have recently bought an iPad and although the reception on it is usually quite good I am having problems when it comes to watching YouTube or previewing any movies. Also BBC iplayer won't play. The videos just keep going into pause mode. My question is whether or not anyone thinks this may be a router problem and should I get a better router. I've been using sky broadband for about three years now and I hve the black Netgear router.

      Re: iPad query

I had the same problem with both my iPhone 4 and iPad. It is fine surfing the web looking at pages but any streaming of video Would jump, pause, freeze.
I have both the white and the black routers from sky the problem is the same.

I ended up attaching a wireless n router to the supplied sky router via Ethernet.
The n router was used to broadcast the wireless and the sky router was only used to conected to the telephone exchange not to break sky T&C.

There are lots of guide on this forum showing you how to set this up.

Now all my apple devices are connected to the n signal I have never had a problems.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks I'll give it a try. As I use a laptop do I have to keep the ethernet cable attached to the laptop? Or am I being thick?!!!

One thing you may want to check is what channel your wireless is using and are there any other networks around you that may be on the same network. Often wireless performance can be badly impacted by other networks using the same channel or one that is overlapping yours.

      Thumbs up Re: iPad query

Thanks for your help - you'll be pleased to know the ethernet cable has worked and I was able to watch BBC iplayer this afternoon while TBH was watching football!
