Still ongoing problems with throughput and latency in the evening on my connection, now seems to be affecting a few freinds and relatives also on broadband unlimited, no resolution yet from Sky support.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

I've asked sky to change me again away from the gaming profile as it made it worse with a 0.5mps upload compared to 1mbps, ping no better or actually worse.

The fact that there are so many variables of line and connection "profiles" and things to go wrong just shows how bad the UK broadband system is, and how other countries like Korea make us look like idiots with their superfast trouble free connections that don't need complaining about.

I hope this changes when fibre-optic to the home happens for me in about a year or so. Or does anyone know if even that has various things can be out of tune or go wrong?

      Hi Jayhab and everyone else,

****DON'T USE THE ONLINE HELP FORM TO LOG THIS ISSUE****

Ring instead and insist on speaking to CST, otherwise you may get your connection settings messed up!

Jayhab, Did you get a name of the CST people you have talked to?

Just a mad thought - I wonder if this could have anything to do with the roll out of "anytime+".

Just wondering how many sky users are using it for VOD. Might just be they underestimated the bandwidth demand at peak times!

      Just a thought!!

Good point but the Easynet/Sky network was so under-utilised I can't see that being a reason

ISP's don't tell you everything. Look at my connection, I get what I expect through the day, speedtests say 6+MB, but as soon as I upload online gaming and everything is taken out because traffic shaping kicks in. And let's not forget, traffic shaping came in as part of the government's plan to stop (or reduce I should say) illegal sharing.

      Edit: Sharing I mean

Sky aren't traffic shaping on their LLU connections, though. It's a backhaul issue and once fixed everything will go back to normal (except for you as you're on Connect)

You just saying things that are simply untrue

Hi Coast - I did get names of CST operators - though i'm sorry but it would be unfair for me to pass them on. The best you can do is ring late at night when you are more likely to get straight through to CST anyway - cutting out the non-Uk call centre. If you follow the guidelines i've posted a couple of times then you should get your fault registered and don't be afraid of hanging up if you get stuck with tier1!
